“Deidara, you’ve got two appointments in about two weeks with your sponsor, an opening at a school for the arts, and a dedication at a museum, as well as….” Deidara didn’t pay attention as his agent droned on and on. He found all that scheduling both boring and headache inducing, so he was glad to let Konan take care of it.
He smiled as he stared out of the window of the car. Well, what did he expect? He was a world-renowned artist, so of course his schedule would be packed. He’d been traveling non-stop for three months, and was eagerly looking forward to the break his blue haired agent had managed to squeeze in.
He was going back to his hometown for his sister’s birthday.
The blonde couldn’t help wondering how his sister was doing. His laptop had been trampled by a mob of fans, so he hadn’t heard from here in almost two months. He hoped she was doing well in agriculture; that had always been her favorite subject-
“Hey Deidara!” “Hmm?” the sculptor turned to see a very angry Konan glaring at him. “Come on, the flight leaves in fifteen minutes!” Deidara didn’t even have time to protest as his agent grabbed his arm and dragged them out of the car, into the airport, and finally onto the plane. “Phew, just made it.” Konan sank into her seat, panting.
“But we made it, and that’s what counts, un.” Deidara was already staring out the window of the plane. “I can’t wait to see Ino, un.”
“How is your sister?”
“She’s-“
“Hold up, I’ve got a call.” She turned away and began rapidly speaking into the phone, allowing the artist next to her to return his attention to the outside. It was sunny, but there were dark clouds on the horizon. “Like a bad omen, un…” Deidara shook his head. No, he was just going home to see his little sis. Nothing wrong with that. He heard a click and a sigh behind him, and turned around to see his agent leaning back in her seat, phone shut in her hands. “Well, you’re sponsor’s appointment has been moved up two days, so now we’ll have to reschedule our flight out of Konoha. Great.” She glanced out the window. “And to top it all off, it looks like it’s about to rain.” She groaned. “I hate rain.”
“Same here,” Deidara muttered.
Konan raised a brow. “That’s weird. Most of you artists love rain. Something about inspiration, I guess.”
Deidara grimaced. “Let’s just say it brings back bad memories, un.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was raining heavily on the small town of Konoha. A soaked blonde ran around the high school’s track, panting heavily as a certain red headed teacher watched. “Come on, brat. You still have thirty-two laps to go.”
Deidara would have replied if he was still capable of speaking, but all his energy was currently focused on remaining in motion, which was becoming increasingly difficult. “Damn that bastard to hell, un,” he thought. Suddenly, the blonde’s legs gave out. His body crashed into the hard pavement of the track, arms barely able to catch him. He tried to get back up, but was only able to half rise before he collapsed again.
Sasori waited ten minutes before he walked over. “Get up,” he ordered.
Deidara merely glared at him, since his body was incapable of moving.
“Do you want another ten laps? Get up, Ms. Iwa.” Not even that insult was able to get a response. The P.E. teacher sighed and bent down, grabbing the blonde and slinging him over his shoulder like a sack. He rose and walked towards the locker room, obviously not burdened by the blonde’s weight.
Once they got inside, he dropped Deidara inside the showers and turned the hot water on. “OWW, UN!” Deidara glared at his teacher.
Sasori turned and walked away. “Shower off and go home. You owe me forty-two laps tomorrow.” And he disappeared without another word.
“Thank to that bastard, I was sick for a week, un,” Deidara thought bitterly.
“Hey, Deidara, you ok? Cause you look like you’re gonna kill someone.”
“Huh? Oh, I’m fine Konan.” But the woman had already turned her attention to a nearby airline stewardess and was trying to get some alcohol. Deidara shut his eyes and set his seat back, trying to get some sleep.
“OWW! I’m up, un!” Deidara touched his cheek and winced. He was going to have a few red marks now, courtesy of his agent.
“Then come on, you need to get off the plane!”
“Huh?! What about you, un?!”
“I have to go back to the city, something’s come up,” Konan quickly explained, pushing her client towards the exit. “I called a cab, all your luggage is in this bag, so you don’t have to wait around in the baggage claim. Just get out and look for someone holding a sign with your name on it. Now go!” And with that she shoved the sculptor out the plane door, quickly pushing her way back through the crowds to her seat.
Deidara stumbled through the crowds until he caught sight of a sign with his name on it. The tall cab driver looked him over. “Young, blonde, still looks like a girl. Yup, you’re definitely Deidara.”
The blonde gave him a flat look. He wasn’t surprised, really. It was definitely because of his hair, which he still kept long. Even his agent said he looked like a girl. Konan was also the one who forbid him to cut it. Something about losing female appeal, if he remembered correctly. “Yeah. And who are you, un?”
Now the driver gave him a flat look. “It figures you wouldn’t remember me. I’ve changed a lot since high school, and was a grade above you anyway.”
Deidara stared hard, then his eyes opened in shock. “Kakuzu?!”
The man smirked. “Well what do you know. You remember me.”
“Yeah, un. What the hell happened, un?!” Deidara had just now noticed the scars all over the man’s body.
“Old accident. Got myself pretty messed up, but whatever. Don’t you need to go somewhere?”
“Oh yeah. Can you take me home, un?” the man nodded and they both walked out of the building. Deidara threw his bag in the back seat of the cab and climbed into the front. “How’s everyone, un?”
“Pretty good. Itachi took over his dad’s business, Kisame works at the aquarium…”
“And Hidan?”
The man grinned. “Is currently being screwed by me.”
“WHAT?!” Deidara’s jaw hit the floor.
“We’re here.” The still-shocked blonde looked out the window and realized they’d arrived at his house. He quickly paid Kakuzu and grabbed his bag, hopping out of the vehicle.”Wait!” he walked around to the driver’s side, where Kakuzu had rolled down the window. “You ever need a lift, call.” He nodded as the man drove away.
Deidara walked up to the door and smiled, ringing the bell. He heard footsteps, and the door opened.
Ino’s eyes lit up when she saw him. “Deidara!” She glomped him.
“Nice to see you, little sis.” Deidara hugged her. “So, what’s up, un?”
“Come inside, I’ll tell you there!” Deidara walked in and immediately noticed how messy the house had gotten in his absence. He wasn’t surprised; Ino was the only resident of this home, and she’d never won any points for neatness. “So how’s it going, bro?” the blonde girl called from the kitchen.
“Not bad, un. I’ve been busy as hell, so it’s nice to come back to a small town for a while, un. And you?”
She groaned. “I’m failing math, my classes suck, and Sakura always fights with me.”
He grinned. “Are you still chasing after that Sasuke, un?”
Her face lit up. “Nope. I got a boyfriend!”
Deidara raised a brow. “Oh really? Who is it, un? And what’s he like?”
He eyes took on a dreamy look. “He’s smart, funny, sweet-“ she was cut off by the doorbell ringing. “Oh, there he is right now!” She ran to answer the door, Deidara following.
“Hi, honey!” He heard Ino call out cheerfully. He walked into the room and froze. Ino was kissing the man who’d just walked in. Grinning, she turned to Deidara. “Deidara, this is my boyfriend.”
“Hello.” The man said.
Deidara couldn’t reply. He was staring into the face of Akasuna Sasori.
Sasodei HSFF part 9
The light was shimmering down onto both boys, from the over-head lamps and the lightning flashes coming from the monstrosity outside. They both were troubled by the weather outside, yet it seemed a good idea to remain positive; it was Sasoris birthday after all.
Still, it was difficult to be positive when it looked like the apocalypse was raging out side. Both sensing each others worry, Sasori leaned across the table towards the blond, as they had finished eating and all plates/ dishes had been cleared away.
Deidara... He began, trying to not to seem patronizing. Do you want to go now? While we still can, I mean.
Sasodei HSFF part 8
What the blond had just said seemed like, or at least according to Sasori it did, le bombshell. Going out? It was weird for the Sasori, as by his knowledge, going out meant either going out to a place, or becoming a couple with someone...did that mean the blond was asking him out?
Deidara...what... He tried to ask the blond, but found out he was unexplainably tongue-tied. Still, he would probably never get to ask, as the blond butted in.
Not what, un! Where! He told the confused Redhead, practically jumping up and down with happiness. I booked for us to go bowling and the to a restaurant, un! Now, before you sa
Sasodei HSFF part 10
Deidara couldnt answer Sasori for a long time, but was perfectly aware of how long he was taking- a clock close by reminded him of that with its abnormally loud Tick! He could feel Sasoris eye boring into his own, and the temptation to look away itched at the blond wildly, but he did not look away. Something inside him told him that if he couldnt even manage to give Sasori an answer, he should at least not duck out like a coward.
He did think of something to say eventually...but was it even worth saying? He was pretty much sure that Sasori knew it himself...so was it really necessary to point it out? Still...the thought of
